Beach Clean Up This Sunday!

Friends,

This weekend is the official kick-off of the Ocean Beach Foundation*!

You can join us in two important ways:

First, We are joining the Other Avenues' Annual Beach Clean-up Party THIS SUNDAY July 9th at 11am (see below for time and details),

Second, we are raising funds towards the formation of the Ocean Beach Foundation so that we will be able to set-up the organization and support the proposal we have in place regarding our clean wood burning initiative.

We are looking to raise $2000 this weekend, in $25+ donations. Can you help? Of course you can!

We can not beleive how successful our campaign has been! Now, this Thursday we will be meeting with some city leaders to define the next steps and how to move forward...

SF Chronicle Front Page and Comment Period Extended

Well, it doesn't get better than this!

SaveOceanBeach.org makes it to the SF Chronicle front page and today the GGNRA extends the comment period for another 45 days.

We went from 660 letters to over 1300 letters writen in one day with a little help from the good folks at Burning Man sending a notice to their big list...

Our voice is being heard!

ABC 7 News Covers the Ban

Local ABC news ran a story on the fire ban last night, and mentions our site. "A GGNRA spokesman says that they've received between 400 and 500 emails and only 10 to 20 of those were in favor of an outright ban."

Today, he SF Weekly reports "On May 1, 2006, policy will be put into effect banning our most beloved beach fires on Ocean Beach. Unless it isn't."

Has the tide of Ocean Beach shifted?

I just checked the stats: 617 emails sent so far, from 151 unique zip codes. (most from SF)

THEN both the Chronicle called to interview me and KRON4 notified me they too are running a story on the issue tomorrow night...

Our voice is being heard... let's take it to 1000 emails by Friday! Pass the word...
